El miércoles 21 de abril Canal 7, la Televisión Pública, puso en marcha el Transmisor de TV Digital de 10 Kw. en el Canal 23 de UHF, constituyéndose de esta manera en la primera emisora en nuestro país en ofrecer Televisión Digital de aire, libre y gratuita bajo la norma del Sistema Argentino de TV Digital Terrestre (SATVD-T).
El evento contó con la presencia de las máximas autoridades y personal del área de ingeniería de Radio y Televisión Argentina S.E., personal de NEC Argentina, NEC Japón, RFS y de las empresas instaladoras nacionales Cristower y Zamparini - Flomenboim SRL.
El Ministro de Planificación Federal, Julio de Vido, informó que el próximo 3 de mayo se anunciará el lanzamiento de la licitación para la construcción de la torre de transmisión para televisión digital que se emplazará en la localidad bonaerense de Avellaneda, una torre de 360 metros de altura en la que van a estar todas la parábolas de la comunicación que están dispersas a lo largo y ancho del conurbano bonaerense, y cuyo alcance lo cubrirá por completo, es decir, proveerá de televisión digital terrestre a unas 15 millones de personas.
El 30 de marzo, en el microcine del Ministerio de Economía, se había realizado la segunda ronda del Foro Consultivo del Sistema Argentino de Televisión Digital Terrestre (SATVD-T), la jornada que se extendió durante todo el día, y a la que asistieron cerca de 350 personas entre las que se encontraban ingenieros, personal técnico, profesionales y empresarios vinculados a la radiodifusión, se brindaron precisiones sobre la implementación, desarrollo y proyección de la televisión digital terrestre, su emisión y recepción, las fases necesarias para que cubra a la totalidad del territorio nacional, haciendo principal hincapié en que el objetivo de la televisión pública es llegar a los 4 millones de hogares que actualmente no reciben ninguna señal televisiva.
Así, en palabras del Ministro De Vido, el 75% de los argentinos podrá gozar de televisión digital terrestre gratuita a partir de este año, y la casi totalidad del país en 2012.
